As someone who has been visiting the Cayman Islands for 44 years, I've seen my fair share of changes over the years. When I started going down in the early 1980s, cell phones didn't exist, there was no such thing as internet and the Holiday Inn on Seven Mile Beach was the central hub for locals and tourists. Fast forward to 2025 and the island is booming with tourism and all the amenities travelers come to expect on a vacation.
I started these blog postings in 2010, but have now realized that there has been significant changes in just the last 15 years that make many of those postings out of date. As such, I'm going to start from scratch and highlight many of the things visitors will be eager to learn about prior to a trip to Grand Cayman.
My hope is that these posts give you a feel for the island prior to your first visit or give you a new idea if you are returning again. (Or maybe even convince you to book your first trip!)
I will touch on a wide range of topics from snorkeling and diving to dining and dancing.
I will prepare you with things to pack and places to shop.
By sharing stories and first hand experiences, I hope to help you maximize your limited time on the island.
